We are incredibly proud of our graduates and all they have accomplished both on and off the ice.
Years of early mornings, hard work, friendships, challenges, and unforgettable memories have led to this moment. These skaters have balanced school, training, competitions, and life, all while growing into incredible young adults and helping shape the spirit of our club along the way.
While this chapter may be coming to an end, we hope the ice is always part of your story. Whether you continue skating, return to visit the rink, or simply carry the lessons and memories with you, your HSC family will always be here cheering you on.
Once an HSC skater, the ice is always home. 💙✨
Congratulations to our Class of 2026 graduates. We cannot wait to see where your next chapter takes you.
Claire (Skater and Coach)
I can't believe my time at the Halifax Skating Club is coming to an end. It's really been such a wonderful time! Some of my favourite
memories include participating in ice shows, competitions, and summer
activities. I also had the opportunity to volunteer and coach for our CanSkate program, which was definitely a highlight of my skating
journey. Helping the next generation of skaters fall in love with the sport was such a gratifying experience that I encourage everyone to partake in. Another highlight is completing an ongoing goal I've been working on for the past few years. I wanted to complete all of my gold
tests before graduation, and I'm so proud to say that I was able to finish my last test this year, with a few months to spare! However, skating is so much more than passing tests and landing jumps. It's taught me perseverance, healthy habits, and most importantly, how to have fun. I hope to carry all of these teachings into university in Montreal, where I will definitely continue skating. In the meantime,
I'll pray I get placed into the residence right next to the rink...

Abbey (Skater and Coach)
I’ve loved my “Rink Days” with the Halifax Skating Club, especially at Centennial Arena. One of my favourite parts was always seeing the same familiar faces week after week, faces that eventually turned into friends and mentors. It’s hard to believe that I was once too shy to even talk to my coaches and teammates!
Some of my favourite memories are competing at my first STARSkate competition, travelling to PEI with Prism 1, and becoming a Program Assistant before starting to coach CanSkate. Skating consistently over the years helped me discover my passion for coaching and helping younger skaters succeed on the ice.
Next year, I’ll be attending Dalhousie University, and I’m excited to continue coaching and enjoying many more “Rink Days” during my university years.

Alyson (Coach)
Skating at Halifax Skating Club has been an incredibly rewarding experience. What I’ve loved the most is the sense of community and support from the coaches and skaters at the rink. Some of my favourite memories include the excitement of competition days, stepping onto the ice after months of hard work, and celebrating personal bests alongside those who supported me along the way. I’ll always remember the early mornings, laughs during practice and the feeling of accomplishment after pushing through challenges together. Through skating, I’ve learned discipline, resilience, and the importance of hard work. All of which are lessons that will stay with me beyond the sport. Next year, I will be attending Dalhousie University, where I plan on furthering my education in the pursuit of a career in healthcare
Alisia (Coach)
Coaching at HSC has been incredibly rewarding. I’m very lucky to have been able to work with such a supportive group of coaches and incredible skaters. One of the most fulfilling parts of coaching has been watching skaters grow and being able to share my passion for skating with everyone at the club.
I will be moving to Alberta later this spring to work as an Articled Clerk at a local law firm. I appreciate all the friendships and connections I’ve been able to build over the past three years with skaters, families, and coaches, and will miss everyone very much.
Liam
Liam has been skating with the Halifax Skating Club since he was 10. He loves the skill and artistry of skating and immersing himself into a program. He has enjoyed creating friendships with his fellow skaters and helping the young canskaters when he can. He had the privilege of representing NS at the Canada Games in 2023; Liam’s competitive journey has taken him across Atlantic Canada and Ontario, always striving for a new personal best. Off the ice Liam attends Citadel High and is captain of the Improv Team, leader of Environment Club and cast member of Musicals. He has also been a member of Neptune’s Youth Performance Company and performed in the sold out shows of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Disney’s Newsies. He will be following his passion for performance by attending Sheridan College for a Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance. He hopes to see if he can fit skating into his busy schedule this fall in Oakville! Through skating, Liam has learned that perseverance through adversity builds a strong resilient spirit that will allow you to face any challenge before you with grit and grace. Whether he’s under the theatre lights or on the ice, Liam is committed to the craft of storytelling through movement.
Antonio
Antonio has been very passionate about skating ever since he started. He was a fairly late starter to the sport at the age of 14. He immediately loved the sport and dedicated his all to it. He never liked missing sessions, he would skate through injuries no matter how much they hurt so he could go to skating. The skating community is something he always felt close with and he always felt supported in his skating journey by the people around him. Some of his favourite highlights was landing his first axel, to then landing his first double, and then finally landing his double axel. He is working very hard and is hoping to land his first triple very soon. He loves competing and loves to challenge himself everyday to be better than he was the day before. This sport has taught Antonio countless life lessons and has brought him memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Some key takeaways Antonio has taken from the sport is that it is never too late to start anything, hard work will always pay off, and to always remember why you started something and to cherish the love that you have for it. Next year Antonio plans to keep pursuing his goals in skating while taking a gap year and balancing work and his skating. He is very excited for the future and has infinite appreciation for this amazing sport.
Alek
One of my favorite parts of skating has always been the community. I’ve loved the friendships, the support system, and knowing I was never alone on the ice. Whether it was coaches helping us prepare, teammates cheering each other on, competitions, or ice shows, there was always someone in your corner.
Some of my favorite memories include competing at Atlantics and Provincials, landing my Axel and Double Salchow, and performing in the winter ice show. I’ve loved being able to see my own growth over the years and share that with others.
Skating has helped me grow not only as an athlete, but as a person. It strengthened my artistry, balance, confidence, communication skills, and friendships that I know I’ll carry with me long after skating.
This fall, I’ll be attending St. Thomas University to study Art and Aviation. I’m also excited to continue my skating journey in Fredericton with new coaches while continuing to build on everything skating has taught me so far.

Lacey
Starting at a new club was nerve-racking at first, but Lacey quickly found a welcoming and supportive environment that helped her feel at home. Training with HSC gave her the space and confidence she needed to continue improving and growing as a skater, something she says she will always be thankful for. She credits the strong leadership and support from her entire coaching team for helping reignite her love for skating.
Some of Lacey’s favourite memories include celebrating successes with her skate mates at competitions, learning new skills throughout the season, and building new friendships along the way.
One of her biggest takeaways from her experience is that sometimes a change in training environment can completely refuel your passion for the sport.
This fall, Lacey will be attending Dalhousie University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She also plans to continue her training with HSC in the coming year, balancing both her academic and skating goals as she moves into this exciting next chapter.
Julia
During my time with the Halifax Skating Club, I have had such an amazing experience thanks to my coaches and friends. Some of my favourite memories include competing with the synchro team and being a part of the ice show. While I was a shy kid, skating helped me step out of my comfort zone and gain confidence in myself. I’m now excited to start a new chapter next year at Acadia University where I will be taking a BSc in Biology.

Asia
Asia has been part of the Halifax Skating Club community since she was very young, and over the years the club has become much more than just a place to train. One of the things she has loved most about HSC is the strong sense of community and support. She says you can truly feel that the coaches care about skaters both on and off the ice, helping them grow not only as athletes, but as people as well.
Some of Asia’s favourite memories include performing her solo in the Ice Show and experiencing the freedom and artistry that skating brings. For her, there is something special about expressing yourself on the ice in a way that no other sport can quite recreate.
Through skating, Asia has learned the importance of balancing determination and hard work with genuine enjoyment of the sport. The challenges she faced along the way helped her become both physically and mentally stronger, while also teaching her to appreciate the process and the joy that comes with it.
This fall, Asia will be attending McGill University where she will begin a Bachelor of Arts and Science studying Chemistry and International Development Studies. She is incredibly excited for this next chapter and all the opportunities ahead.

Mallory
What I’ve loved most about skating is the friendships I’ve made through the Halifax Skating Club and Bedford Skating Club. One of my favourite skating memories was being part of the Prism synchro team and traveling to Prince Edward Island for competitions. Skating has helped me become more resilient both on and off the ice and I will always enjoy spending my free time skating. Next year, I will be attending Dalhousie University to study for a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology!
Nozomi
The most important thing I have learned through figure skating is that falling is not a failure, but a step forward.
