The Halifax Figure Skating Club’s Annual Awards Banquet is a special evening where we come together to celebrate the dedication, progress, and accomplishments of our skaters throughout the season. From our newest CanSkaters taking their first strides on the ice to our competitive athletes reaching new heights, this event honours the hard work, perseverance, sportsmanship, and passion that define HSC both on and off the ice. It’s also a meaningful opportunity to recognize and thank our coaches, volunteers, and families whose encouragement, commitment, and support help make every success possible.

Karen Preston
We’re honoured to welcome Karen Preston to the HSC Banquet! A two-time Canadian National Champion, 1992 Olympian, and former top-10 World competitor, Karen has inspired skating fans across Canada with her athleticism, artistry, and unforgettable performances on the world stage. After an incredible competitive career, she continued to captivate audiences professionally and has spent decades giving back to the sport through coaching and mentorship. Join us as Karen shares highlights from her remarkable skating journey, celebrates the achievements of our HSC community, and spends time with the skaters, families, and volunteers who make our club shine.

Cost: $20.00 per HSC Skater and $20.00 for the first guest/parent/guardian.
Skaters 13 and under must attend with a parent/guardian.
Additional guests may purchase tickets for $45.00 each.

A limit of one Guest/Parent/Guardian ticket at a reduced rate, with each HSC skater ticket purchased

All additional guest tickets must have a ticket
BSC Home Club Skaters and Guests Ticket $45.00 each - registration open May 24th until 5:00 PM on May 25th
All Bedford Skaters and guests must have a ticket.
Each person in attendance MUST have a ticket. No exceptions
ALL Tickets must be presented at check in the day of the event.
In order to comply with fire code regulations and ensure accurate dinner preparations, all skaters and guests (including parents and siblings) must present a ticket for entry to the event.

• Halifax Skating Club must be your Home Club during the 2025–2026 season
• You must register for at least 1 week (or 5 skating days) of HSC Summer 2026 programming
• You must be registered or planning to register in one of the following Summer 2026 programs:
- Jr Academy
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
Summary Skating Bursary
• Your skating goals for the summer or upcoming season
• Achievements from this past season
• What skating means to you
• How you’ve demonstrated commitment, improvement, or leadership
• Volunteer roles you’ve taken on this season
• Challenges or obstacles you’ve overcome this year

Who is invited to attend the banquet?
All Halifax Skating Club members and their families are welcome to attend! This includes CanSkate, Jr. Academy, and Academy skaters, as well as our Volunteers and Officials.
Bedford Skating Club members and their families are also welcome to attend. However, the priority registration will be given to our HSC skaters. We anticipate that registration for BSC skaters will open May 24th and will close at 5:00 PM on May 25th.
Do I need to purchase a ticket to attend?
Yes, everyone planning on attending must purchase a ticket. Please see the Purchase Your Tickets section above.
Is parking available?
Yes, the Atlantica Hotel has a heated, underground parkade for self-parking. It's important to note that parking is not free, and is for standard-sized vehicles (6' clearance). There is also limited street parking available.
What is the Dress Code?
Dress is semi-casual or banquet best - think polished but comfortable.
Will food be served?
Yes, a buffet style dinner and dessert will be served. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions by emailing halifaxskatingclubplanning@gmail.com.
Will skaters be receiving awards?
Yes! Skaters from all levels will be recognized, with announcements for special HSC Club and NS Section Awards.
Can I bring guests who aren't part of the club?
Yes, additional guests (like extended family or friends) are welcome - just make sure they have purchased a ticket.
What time should we arrive?
We will start letting people in at 5:30pm. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm and our awards portion of the evening will begin around 6:45pm.
