What CanSkate Program Should I Register For?

If your skater has little or no experience skating, once they are 3 years old, they belong in one of our CanSkate programs. Our Coaches and Program Assistants will be happy to help them find their feet, get them comfortable on the ice and teach them the basic skills they need to participate in figure skating, hockey, ringette, or speed skating.

New skaters to our club will be placed in the PreCanSkate level.  (Available on all CanSkate sessions)

PreCanSkate session is intended for brand new skaters age 3-6.

If your skater has a history of skating they will likley move through the PreCanSkate level quickly.

All new skaters to our club will be assessed  and placed into a group based at their skill / age level.  If skaters are coming from other Skate Canada CanSkate club programs please forward their report card to

Returning skaters that have not passed PreCanSkate must also register for PreCanSkate.

We organize the schedule so that we have groups of skaters at numerous stages of learning-to-skate on the ice at the same time. Our coaches are constantly evaluating skaters and can easily move them between groups to accommodate their achievement level. We keep record of the CanSkate stages that our Skaters pass and you can view this information anytime in your account by clicking the yellow star labeled "Achievements".

Skaters that are talent ID'd for Figure Skating will be invited to the PreAcademy and Junior Academy Programs for fast tracking through the CanSkate Program.  Skaters in these programs should show an interest in continuing with Figure Skating

Once Skaters complete the CanSkate Program (ether Mainstream or as part of the Junior Academy Program)  they are then invited into the StarSkate Academy Programing.  Which is private lesson/ coach based.
