Administration & Coaches

The Halifax Skating Club is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors (including the executive members). The Board holds regular Director meetings and an Annual General Meeting each year. Board meetings are open to all members who wish to attend. The Club encourages any interested member to join the Board of Directors.

The Halifax Skating Club employs NCCP certified, Professional Skating Coaches to deliver all of its skating programs. The Professional Coaches use the assistance of trained volunteer Program Assistants in the CanSkate and CanPowerSkate programs.

All of our Professional Coaches are involved in teaching at every skating level from CanSkate to Competitive Skating.

The Halifax Skating Club uses a team approach to coaching our skaters. Skaters have the opportunity to work with several different coaches during their ice sessions. A skater may focus on Free Style training with one coach while taking Dance, Skills and Stroking lessons with other coaches. Our skaters enjoy the diversity and individual coaching strengths that this approach brings to their skating.
